Church and State Apartments
Church and State is a new two building complex in Cleveland, OH with apartments over multiple podium levels of mixed-use space. Kevin provided EOR services for cold-formed steel design of gravity and lateral systems of the upper floors (8-stories Building A & 4-stories Bldg B). The upper floor residential space totals approximately 155,000 square feet combined.
The Edge Apartments at Cleveland State University
The new apartment building at CSU included nine floors of cold-formed steel framing support by a podium level. Kevin provided EOR design services for the cold-formed gravity and steel braced frame lateral systems and coordination of loading and reactions at the podium level with podium/foundation engineer. One unique challenge for this project involved framing for irregular alignment and size of units & windows at exterior bearing walls. The upper floor living space totals around 200,000 square feet.
AC Marriott Hotel
There is nothing typical about this hotel in Dublin, OH featuring a curved façade exterior shape and sleek finishes. Kevin worked as EOR for the structural design of the upper seven floor gravity and lateral systems comprising around 87,000 total square feet. The primary framing consisted of prefabricated cold-formed stud bearing walls and a mix of masonry walls and steel braced frames for wind and seismic resistance. One of the main challenges for the team involved achieving efficient framing schemes to accommodate both the “S” shaped units and “S” shaped exterior.
